We partner with our local St. Mary's Chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace which builds beds, provides mattresses, and bedding for 

kids ages 3-17 who do not have beds in our county.

In November, HMC and Patuxent Presbyterian Church participate in the Operation Christmas Child program run by Franklin Graham's Christian relief organization, Samaritan's Purse. Shoeboxes are filled with small items such as toys and hygiene items to be sent around the world to countries where children may not otherwise receive a Christmas gift. This organization shares the love of Christ with families all over the world. www.samaritanspurse.org

Families purchase CFA meals and join each other for lunch and time on the playground, getting to know other families. Money raised from these events goes toward buying items for the classrooms and playground. 

Each October is Fire Safety Month and we learn about it with a visit from the our local Bay District Fire Department. We get to climb on the fire truck and shoot water from a real fire hose! They also bring their fire gear and let us see and touch it. We love to meet our local firefighters.

We have a variety of field trips and programs each year. The entire school goes to a Pumpkin Farm in October. Field trips and programs may vary each year, but often include, Calvert Marine Museum, St. Mary's City Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes program, Dentists, and Calvert County Natural Resources naturalists. Pastor Matt visits the classes to talk about Easter and Christmas. We have chapel for our 3s and 4s classes once per month with Pastor Matt as well.

We offer monthly Scholastic Book Club order forms for your family to buy if you wish. They are generally excellent prices, and the school earns points toward new books. It is totally optional, but a great way to get your family reading!

HMC hosts a Scholastic Book Fair each year at the end of October. It's a great way to shop for gifts for Christmas. 

Each spring, students and parents have the opportunity to participate in our Original Works fundraiser. All students make an art project created at school and then parents are offered quality products with that artwork on it for purchase. Items include coffee mugs, t-shirts, water bottles, notecards and more. www.originalworks.com
